Don't You Want Me was the fourth single taken from the band's third album, Dare.
Lead singer Phil Oakey hated the track so much he fought with both the album's producer and the record label to prevent it being released, it had been relegated to the last track of the album and was regarded by Oakey as a filler song at best.
It went on to be the UK Christmas number one, selling one and a half million copies and later topped the Billboard 100 too.
It's now largely regarded as being the catalyst for the second UK music invasion.
