Billie Holiday Concert Poster

This was Billie's first ever headline concert at Carnegie Hall. Performing just days after her release from prison, it was her first live show in a year. Tickets sold out in a week and extra seats had to be added to meet demand.

Although she was so nervous before the show that she pricked her head while pinning her trademark gardenia in her hair, her performance was heralded as a huge success. Reviews the next morning were glowing, with special attention given to her performance of what is probably regarded as her most well known song, 'Strange Fruit'.
