Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army home in Liverpool that John Lennon used to visit as a child.

He liked going there because having lost both his parents he felt a kinship to the boys who lived there. John and his aunt would often argue about his going there, he would often reply, "What are they going to do, hang me?" Thus the line "Nothing to get hung about."
